Confirm that Play Points is available in the Play country
Play Points is offered only in supported countries. The interface language or physical travel location does not by itself decide eligibility; the Google Play country and payment profile are important.
Use Google's current country list instead of an old article. If the program is not offered for the account's Play country, the Join option may not appear.
Check whether the account is managed
Google says the account must not be managed by a school or a parent. Work, school, supervised, and child accounts can behave differently from a personal adult account.
Do not remove supervision or organizational controls only to obtain points. Use an eligible personal account when appropriate and permitted.
Match the payment method and billing address
A valid payment method may be required, and its billing address must match the Google Play country. A card from one country combined with a different Play country can prevent the setup from completing.
Review the payment profile before adding duplicate cards. Changing the Play country also has separate restrictions and can affect existing points, balance, and subscriptions.
Use a supported device or the web
Google supports joining from a compatible Android device or a computer. On Android, open the Play Store profile menu and select Play Points, then Join. On a computer, open the Play Store and choose Play Points, then Join.
Update the Play Store and confirm the intended Google account is selected. Installing unrelated apps or making a test purchase does not create eligibility.
Purchases before joining do not earn points later
Google says only eligible purchases made after the account joins can earn points. Joining after a receipt is issued does not retroactively add points.
Before a planned purchase, confirm that the Play Points page shows the account as enrolled. Keep the receipt and check Points history afterward.
After joining, calculate with the correct account
Use the level and missing points shown on the enrolled account rather than combining estimates from other accounts.
